| Pascha, or Easter, is the major feast of the Orthodox Church. The Paschal procession with the cross begins with the stanza «Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ?» The troparion «Christ is risen from the dead?» repeated many times accentuates the joy, magnificence and solemnity of the feast. The Paschal canon in the traditional Kievan chant beautifully conveys the festive and exultant mood of the worshippers.
The hymns of the Paschal Divine Liturgy are also solemn and joyful. The state of exultation, in which Christians stay on the feast of Pascha, is well expressed in the concert hymns «Rejoice, ye people» and «Let God arise».
The catechetical sermon of St.John Chrysostom is read by Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine.
Colour booklet (16 pages) in Russian and English with an interesting narration on the feast of Pascha. |
