Precentor Irina Boldysheva

1 CD (colour booklet 112 pages)
2001 The Igor Matvienko Production Centre

«Hymns of the Byzantine Tradition» is a unique recording of the St. John of Damascus children"s and youth choir at the Cathedral of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in St.Petersburg. The hymns are performed in the Greek and Church Slavonic languages.

The young voices resound strikingly beautifully and softly. The ideal balance of sound and complete conformity in all nuances with the tradition accentuate the expressiveness of ancient chants.

Special attention should be paid to the Stanzas to the Holy New Russian Martyrs and Confessors, including the Holy Imperial Martyrs, and also to the famous Troparion «Agne Parthene» by St.Nectarius of Aegina in Church Slavonic.

All hymns exert a strong impression on the listeners and remain in their memory for a long time.
